Webinar: Building bridges between social protection and productive inclusion policies in LAC

10/06/2021

10 June

15 h (CET) / 8 h (Colombia, Mexico, Peru)

Online: Zoom and Youtube.

IFAD’s LAC Division has been working extensively on the relationship between social protection and productive inclusion programs in rural areas. Starting from the intuition that coordination between both types of programs can help poor and at-risk rural households to escape the poverty trap and break its intergenerational transmission; the Fund has supported research on possible synergistic effects between these types of public policies through a grant awarded to the Universidad de los Andes.

The results of FAO/IFAD/Uniandes’ research come to the light in a dramatic context that only increases its relevance. With Latin America and the Caribbean being the developing region hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, a very relevant policy question is how to integrate reforms in social protection programs with agricultural and rural interventions to benefit family farmers and improve their resilience, a key thrust in the broader effort of aligning food systems in the region to the SDGs.

These issues will be at the core of the discussions of the webinar Building bridges between social protection and productive inclusion policies in LAC that will be held on 10 June at 15:00 (Rome time)/8:00 (Colombia, Mexico, Peru), and to which LAC Division is very pleased in inviting you.

This webinar will be followed by a High-Level Workshop on 23 June on which we will be sending further information very soon.

The webinar will be held in Spanish. Interpretation into English will be available.
