This guideline aims to deliver supplementary advice on the application of the IUCN protected area management category system in the framework of forest protection. It envision to clarify the relationship between IUCN PA’s categories and other forest management regimes, demonstrates how Forest Protected Areas can be planned and managed and illustrates how other forest management regimes can contribute to the overall protection of the forest estate.
