Partnership for online training with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation

The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease and the Regional Support Unit for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (RSU-SAARC) are partnering to pilot the use of online training tools to promote transboundary animal disease control in the SAARC region.

As part of this initiative, each country in the SAARC region is offered 15 places, free of charge, on a pilot online training course: the FMD Investigation Training course.  Each SAARC country has been contacted and asked to send in nominations.

This course will take place over a four week period, requiring participants to study for approximately 12 hours during this period. The course will cover foot-and-mouth disease pathogenesis, clinical diagnosis, lesion ageing, laboratory testing, outbreak investigation, biosecurity and the use of FMD vaccines. The course material includes live webinars, online discussion fora, interactive online modules and practical videos.

The course is suitable for veterinarians in the SAARC region who are working on activities related to FMD diagnosis and control at field, regional or central level. Participants should be able to communicate effectively in English language. More details on the course content are available here. All those who successfully complete the course will receive an electronic certificate.

A limited number of places are available and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
