World Food System Summer School: Food Systems in Transition

The World Food System Summer School organized by the World Food System Center at ETH Zurich, gathers motivated participants from academia, industry, policy, development cooperation, and civil society organizations from around the world to explore how to build sustainable food systems in times of rapid change.

The 2020 summer school will take place between 08 - 23 August 2020 in the  “Gut Rheinau”, one of Switzerland’s largest and oldest organic farms. The participants will be able to experience food systems and production first hand, living and working in a sustainable, socially integrative food system. The program will immerse students in the fascinating world of food systems through field trips, fieldwork, group case studies, design thinking, guest presentations, role-plays and simulations and creative reflection - all helping them build the knowledge and skills you need to tackle food system challenges.

Participants will discuss challenges, opportunities, and innovations in food systems across disciplines, sectors and scales. The program will gather a network of global change-makers to encourage critical reflection on the role of organic production systems and agroecology in improving food and nutrition security across the world.
