Antimicrobial Resistance

E-learning

Supporting countries and food and agriculture stakeholders in building capacities and competencies to address the risk of AMR is one of FAO’s mandate.  Online learning can play a crucial role in delivering training across the globe. In addition, due to COVID-19, remote education has been highly demanded. FAO has developed a training set based on the demand and will continuously present helpful learning opportunities.

FAO Progressive Management Pathway for Antimicrobial Resistance

FAO Progressive Management Pathway for Antimicrobial Resistance

Overview

The course provides a comprehensive overview of the FAO Progressive Management Pathway for Antimicrobial Resistance (PMP-AMR). It covers FAO’s support focusing on the National Action Plans on AMR (AMR-NAPs), through the PMP-AMR tool, which provides assistance in incorporating the food and agriculture components of the AMR-NAPs and in ensuring that a One Health approach is applied, to support national efforts to combat AMR. Learners will gain an understanding of the technical topics addressed in the PMP-AMR tool. They will also learn about the practical application of the tool, specifically how to organize and support PMP-AMR national assessment workshops, by identifying all the key stakeholders involved. The course concludes with guidance for planning assessment workshops.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course includes:

  • PMP-AMR facilitators, who will directly guide and support countries in implementing AMR-NAPs or national AMR activities, by using the FAO-PMP-AMR approach;
  • members of national multisectoral coordination groups (MCGs) on AMR or national AMR focal points who are interested in developing, implementing or revising AMR NAPs; and
  • other stakeholders relevant to AMR, including producers and wholesale and retail distributors of antimicrobials; extension and veterinary services, epidemiologists, laboratory personnel and academia; and government officials, policymakers, food safety officers and the private sector.
