As part of the celebration of the International Year of Camelids, the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Algeria (INRAA), in collaboration with OTIZMA SPACE, a specialized educational center , organized the Creative Camel Mosaic Workshop—a pioneering, inclusive initiative designed especially for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
The workshop featured many interactive and diverse activities, including mosaic art sessions, sensory workshops, educational corners about camelids, camel milk tasting, and simplified presentations on desert ecology and the cultural significance of camels in Algerian heritage.
These activities provided a sensory-friendly and supportive environment where children could express themselves through creating colorful camel-themed mosaics, helping to develop fine motor skills and boost creativity. Guided by INRAA researchers and OTIZMA SPACE educators, participants also learned about the ecological and cultural importance of camelids, as well as the potential health benefits of camel milk.
This initiative is part of a broader scientific collaboration between INRAA and OTIZMA SPACE, focused on investigating the nutritional value of camel milk as a natural dietary support for children with autism.
By combining art, science, and inclusive education, the Creative Camel Mosaic Workshop offered a joyful and meaningful experience—promoting creativity, awareness, and innovation in support of children with Autism.
