FAO in Nigeria

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been a major partner in Nigeria’s drive toward agricultural transformation and sustainable economic development. With Nigeria’s vast agricultural potential and growing focus on the Blue Economy, the country aims to boost food production, create jobs, and strengthen food security. FAO aligns with these national priorities by providing critical support—ranging from agriculture and policy development to natural resources management, emergency assistance to agricultural livelihood restoration as well as capacity building. Through interventions that promote fisheries development, climate resilience, and inclusive growth, FAO continues to play a pivotal role in advancing Nigeria’s vision of a diversified economy, improved nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods.
