The Development Law Service publishes COVID-19 Policy Brief

As part of FAO’s response to support countries in the wake of the COVID19 crisis, a policy brief prepared by the Development Law Service on Legal considerations in the context of responses to COVID-19 to mitigate the risk of food insecurity was published on 14 April 2020. The brief examines some of the unintended consequences of emergency laws on all dimensions of food security; availability, access, utilization and stability of food supplies, at global, national, local levels. The brief contains recommendations on how to safeguard food security (or not further compromise it) through legal interventions in the context of national legal frameworks.
