Bilateral meeting with the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, Mr Sedthakiat Krajangwongs
Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, had a bilateral meeting with Mr Sedthakiat Krajangwongs, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom of Thailand, on the margins of the 43rd Session of the FAO Conference.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary congratulated the Director-General on his successful re-election, and reaffirmed Thailand’s full support. He appraised the Director-General for his leadership and for FAO’s achievements over the past four years. He commended FAO’s flagship initiatives and focus on women and youth, smart agriculture, food loss and waste, digitalization, innovation and innovation, and work on fisheries. The Deputy Permanent Secretary further thanked FAO for supporting Thailand on among others, on issues of IUU fishing, ecosystem restoration and promotion of agro-tourism.
The Director-General thanked the Thai Government for its long-standing commitment to FAO’s mandate and especially the strong support to the Asia and the Pacific region by hosting the FAO regional office in Bangkok.
The two agreed to strengthen cooperation on rural development, soil management, aquaculture, as well as South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
