Nadi, Fiji - As part of his official visit to Fiji, where he opened the SIDS Solutions Forum 2024, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu visited sugar cane farms and the China-Pacific Islands Countries Juncao Technology Demonstration Center for mushroom cultivation, which uses a type of grass rather than the traditional logs or sawdust as a base.

Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, to discuss food security and other priorities, including those related to the G7 Italian Presidency.

Rome - During the World Food Forum (WFF) 2024 at FAO headquarters in Rome, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with H.E. Jambaltseren Tumur-Uya, State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia. The Director-General welcomed the State Secretary and expressed his gratitude for Mongolia’s longstanding support, emphasizing that Mongolia had significant potential in the agricultural sector, which could play an even greater role in global agrifood systems.

Rome - On the margins of the World Food Forum (WFF) 2024 in Rome at FAO Headquarters, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with H.E. Li Guoying, Minister for Water Resources of China. Director-General welcomed the Minister and provided an introduction to FAO’s history and mission. He commended China's water resource management policy and practices, recognizing their significance as a model for global water management efforts.
