Ashgabat, Turkmenistan - Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) QU Dongyu is visiting Turkmenistan this week, underscoring FAO’s commitment to strengthening food and nutrition security, and climate-resilient agrifood systems across Europe and Central Asia. The visit centres on the International Conference on Food Security in the Context of Climate Change: Health and Nutrition in a Changing Climate, organized jointly by FAO and the Government of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat, alongside high-level meetings and field visits.

On this occasion, the FAO Director-General and the Minister signed the Host Country Agreement, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between FAO and Turkmenistan and paving the way for the establishment of an FAO Country Representation.

The meeting was also attended by H.E. Charyyar Chetiyev, Minister for Agriculture, and H.E. Charygeldi Babanyyazov, Minister for Environmental Protection.
