FAO Director-General and WTO Director-General to strengthen constructive collaboration

7 October 2019, Geneva - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Roberto Azevêdo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, at WTO headquarters in Geneva.

The two principals explored ways to further strengthen their collaboration and agreed to build upon the fruitful partnership already established. They also discussed the great potential for additional collaboration to jointly promote food system transformation along the entire value chain.

The parties met on the sidelines of World Cotton Day, held at the initiative of the “C-4” countries – Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali – and hosted at the WTO with the collaboration of FAO, the UN Conference on Trade and Development and other organizations.
