Bilateral meeting with H.E. General Umaro Sissoco Embalo, President of Guinea-Bissau

Rome - Today the FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met H.E. General Umaro Sissoco Embalo, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, at FAO headquarters in Rome. The meeting took place on the margins of the Italy-Africa Summit held in Rome, Italy.
The Director-General welcomed the President to FAO headquarters and assured him of his commitment to continued collaboration in improving food security in Guinea-Bissau, and Africa.
The President thanked the Director-General and acknowledged the good cooperation between his country and FAO and conveyed his hope for the collaboration to continue so that Guinea Bissau could continue to benefit from FAO’s technical expertise and comparative advantages.
The Director-General thanked the President for the longstanding support to FAO and emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnerships for effective economic development through concrete actions and encouraged sharing experiences in agrifood systems transformation with other countries in Africa.
The pair agreed to continue strengthening the excellent relations, working collectively to strengthen transformation of agrifood systems.
