Bilateral meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Vladimir Vnuk

Rome – FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Vladimir Vnuk, met today at FAO headquarters in Rome on the margins of the 34th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe. The State Secretary was joined at the meeting by H.E. Matej Hudec, Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to FAO.
The Director-General and the Secretary of State discussed agriculture in Slovakia, including wine making, which the Director-General had witnessed on a previous visit. The Director-General praised the attention given to agriculture innovation in Slovakia. In this context, the State Secretary referred to the International Agricultural and Food Fair (AGROKOMPLEX) taking place in Nitra, Slovakia, in August 2024.
The State Secretary further referred to Slovakia’s commitment to FAO, including through its current role as Chair of the European Region Group. The Director-General thanked Slovakia for this dedication and for the recent renovations to the Slovak Delegates Lounge, which is in high demand as an important venue for delegates to work and host meetings at FAO Headquarters in Rome.
The pair agreed to continue working to further strengthen the excellent collaboration between Slovakia and FAO, including for the transformation of agrifood systems.
