Readout of the bilateral meeting with the Honourable Senator Kazim Hosein, Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries of Trinidad and Tobago

Georgetown, Guyana - The FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with the Honourable Senator Kazim Hosein, Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries of Trinidad and Tobago on the sidelines of the FAO Regional Ministerial Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean (LARC38) in Georgetown, Guyana.

During the meeting, the Director-General emphasized the importance of aquaculture for the fisheries sector. The Director-General also highlighted the significance of the newly established FAO Office for Youth and Women to support the development of youth to ensure skills development, which is critical to ensure a better future for them.

The Minister conveyed his appreciation to the Director-General for the support provided by FAO and for the good collaboration.

The FAO Director-General and the Minister agreed to continue their cooperation and reiterated their collective will to strengthen the partnership, and to join forces to work together towards the transformation of agrifood systems and other priorities.
