Rak’s farm

Marian Rak took over his family farm in 1975 and has been running it since then. The farm is situated in Samowtór, 20 km away from Wrocław in the south  west of Poland. Total agricultural area is 102,15 ha. Arable land is 70,66 ha, orchards and fruit-tree nursery – 4,54 ha, permanent grasslands – 26,25 ha. The main farmer’s activity is plant production and beef cattle breeding. The farm has got good and medium-quality soils. Main yields: crops – wheat, maize, papilionaceous and grass mixtures. Plant yields: wheat – 6 t/ha, spring barley – 4,5 t/ha, maize – 10 t/ha, potatoes – 35 t/ha. Currently, there are 14 suckler cows, one bull, 4 heifers and 16 young stock cattle, including 9 calves. At present the farmer does not sell cattle and all the newborn animals are kept to expand the herd, young bulls are exchanged for heifers. The stock is kept in the runs with the access to the new shed.
