The Food Manifesto: Putting Food On The Table

CSOs in Kenya are requesting of the political class to have the food agenda on the table of debate as Kenya prepares for general elections in August 2022. It is time to consciously work to change the national food agenda narrative. The Route to Food Initiative in collaboration with other civil society organizations; Inter-Sectoral Forum for Agroecology and Agrobiodiversity (ISFAA), Rural Outreach Africa, The Right to Food Coalition, African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), PELUM Kenya, Consumer Grassroots Association (CGA), BIBA-Kenya, Concern Worldwide, Nutri-Produce, Kenya Organic Agriculture Network (KOAN), and BEACON have put together a Food Manifesto, which is a proposition on solving some of the structural and policy issues hindering the realization of the Human Right to Food. The manifesto exposes and dispels some of the illusions that have prevented food security for decades while offering remedies that political parties might include in their manifestos or that officials at the federal and local levels of government can put into practice.
