Webinar ''Growing agroecology in China - Challenges and Opportunities'' on 10 January 2021

China's agroecological and organic farming sector is developing rapidly as increasing numbers of consumers have the economic means to consider their food's safety and health. The market potential is vast, but many challenges remain: educating the consumer and building trust, supporting new entrants, recovering damaged ecosystems, and creating viable market conditions for ecological food producers.

This session centered on providing learning from leaders with significant leverage in driving the agroecological sector's development. The group discussed sustainable food production in China, the challenges, and innovative solutions to balance and harmonize agroecology's cultural, social, and economic aspects. Given the impact of digital applications, scientific research, and traditional principles related to food and wildlife, all stakeholders, beyond their generation, are engaging for better food and sustainable agricultural farming.

This session is part of the Oxford Real Farming Conference 2021. Panellists include speakers Ada Qin, founder of the social enterprise Abovefarm, academic and advisor on organic farming and ecology, Professor Yuanguan Xi, the organiser of Beijing Farmers’ Markets and creator of Foodthink, an online platform to promote ecological food systems, Tianle Chang and ecological farmers Gang Liu and Joanna Li.
