COMMIT TO GROW EQUALITY GLOBAL COMMITMENT TO ENHANCE GENDER EQUALITY IN AGRIFOOD SYSTEMS THROUGH FINANCING AND PARTNERSHIPS

It is critical to address the challenges and structural inequalities that hold women back in agrifood systems. FAO is launching a global commitment process to enhance financing for gender equality and women’s empowerment in agrifood systems. Bringing together governments, philanthropy, private sector, United Nations and other multilateral agencies, civil society organizations and others, the process aims to unite key stakeholders to commit investments and partnerships to transform agrifood systems. The process will kick off with a launch event at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) in New York in March 2024. A roundtable will take place in June/July 2024 for stakeholders to discuss the nature of planned commitments in greater depth, share initiatives, good practices and policies to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in agrifood systems. The process will culminate with a high-level event in September/October 2024, where partners will commit investments and partnerships achieved throughout this process
