Setting up a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

At Culberry Nursery in Angmering, West Sussex (4 miles west of Worthing), Martin Jarvis is taking the first steps to set up a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Project.

A meeting in May 2011 established the level of interest, as local Angmering residents and members of Transition Town Worthing discussed ideas of how a local CSA could work. A CSA works as a food grower by a community subscribing to a scheme, whether through committing to a regular veggie box, or paying a monthly or annual subscription.

Some food is already being grown at Culberry as part of a community project. The CSA group are now looking at additional land in the locality that would be suitable for growing on a larger scale.
