Following the launch of the Global Agro-Ecological Zones version 5 (GAEZ v5) in April 2025, this webinar will introduce the updated GAEZ framework, its purpose, structure and key improvements. Participants will explore practical applications of GAEZ v5 data for agricultural planning, food security analysis and policy development across different climate and management scenarios.
The launch of the GAEZ v5 assessment and its platform represents a major milestone in advancing agricultural planning and sustainable development. GAEZ v5 incorporates improved methodologies and updated datasets on climate, soil, and land resources to support more informed decision-making in agriculture and land-use management.
This version also benefits from technological advancements that enhance the processing, generation, and dissemination of data. The new platform leverages open-source libraries and tools to enable intuitive data visualization through a free and open framework, ensuring interoperability with other systems, particularly the FAO Agro-Informatics Platform.
This technical webinar offers an opportunity to explore the updated methods, inputs, and dissemination tools introduced in version 5.
