Strengthening technical capacities on using geospatial for delineating intervention areas in Kenya

24/11/2022 - 24/11/2022

A technical training on using geospatial technologies, mapping and delineating intervention areas for the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) in Kenya was organized on 24 November 2022. A total of twelve participants, ten from six forest and farm producer organizations (FFPOs) and two from county governments in Kenya, attended the training program. The training included theoretical and practical presentations, question-and-answer sessions, as well as hands-on practices and group presentations. This training was the first of its kind to use geospatial technologies to delineate FFF intervention areas in Kenya and is expected to strengthen capacity in geospatial monitoring of FFF interventions and is a part of ongoing efforts to enhance GIS/RS capacity of smallholder and partner organizations in general. An action plan was agreed with the participants for continuing the mapping activities. Geospatial data, including metadata, developed from this process are expected to contribute to operationalizing a monitoring system to track progress of the FFF efforts in Kenya.
