02/04/2021

French version

The GFCM, together with the Friends of SSF platform, is pleased to announce that the SSF Forum programme for 2021 is now available.

So much has changed since the launch of the SSF Forum in February 2020, nonetheless one thing remains clear – empowering small-scale fishers is key for the long-term sustainability of the sector.

The SSF Forum stems from the recommendations of the Regional Plan of Action for Small-Scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (RPOA-SSF). Its workshops are designed to offer small-scale fishers, fish workers and SSF organizations the opportunity to exchange experiences, share good practices and learn from one another.

Each workshop consists of a series of 1.5-2 hour sessions on specific issues highlighted by the RPOA-SSF. To facilitate participation, interpretation will be provided in Arabic, English, French and Spanish. Additional languages may be added on an ad hoc basis depending on the interest and language needs of registered participants.

May - July 2021 Promoting strong and innovative SSF value chains
September 2021 Decent work and social protection

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, all 2021 SSF Forum workshops are foreseen to be held virtually. Once travel will be possible again, future workshops of the SSF Forum will aim to also promote peer-to-peer exchanges through in-person field visits.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion, and those who have completed the SSF Forum workshops will be given priority for funding to support their travel to attend future in-person SSF Forum events.
