ABSTRACT

The Working Group on the Compendium of GFCM decisions (WGCompendium), was held on 8–9 June 2026 in Nice, France. It was attended by 18 experts from GFCM contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties. The WGCompendium provided a technical forum to review the structure, maintenance, updating, consolidation and digital presentation of the Compendium of GFCM decisions, and to identify practical approaches to enhance its clarity, accessibility and usability. The WGCompendium agreed on a set of technical considerations and a preliminary roadmap to support the consolidation of amended decisions, improve the handling and accessibility of repealed decisions, strengthen version control and traceability and enhance digital tools as the primary access point for GFCM decisions. The outcomes of the WGCompendium will inform the work of the Commission and the Compliance Committee, guiding future improvements to the consolidation, presentation and maintenance of GFCM decisions, including through enhanced digital tools, standardized processes for updating and reporting, and the development of drafting guidance to ensure coherence, traceability and transparency.
