GIAHS Workshop in Spain, February 8, 2018, Madrid

On the occasion of the recognition of the first two Spanish GIAHS sites (first in Europe), the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA), organized a workshop dedicated to GIAHS in order to disseminate information about the program and present the two first Spanish GIAHS, appointed last November:

· The production of muscatel grapes from the Comarca de la Axarquía (Málaga)

· The salt production system of Valle Salado de Añana (Álava)

The event was held in the Ministry and was inaugurated by Mr. Jaime Haddad Sánchez de Cueto, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment.

An intervention by the Coordinator of the FAO GIAHS Program, Mr. Yoshihide Endo, as well as the current Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Group, Prof. Mauro Agnoletti, were included.

The Workshop was also an opportunity to share experiences and present future GIAHS candidate sites from different Spanish Autonomous Communities.
