FAO participates in UN/CEFACT Team of Specialists on Sustainable Fisheries
The second informal meeting of the UN/CEFACT Team of Specialists on Sustainable Fisheries (ToS SF) took place in Hangzhou, China, on 16 October 2018.
The team reviewed the promotion, development and implementation of the Fisheries Language for Universal eXchange (FLUX) standard to be presented at the Second Formal Meeting of the ToS in early 2019.
FLUX is a global cooperative initiative under UN/CEFACT that aims to facilitate national and international fisheries information exchange, through the simplification and harmonization of processes, procedures and information flows.
The standard is being implemented in the FAO Global Record information system as part of the automated information exchange mechanism to support real-time and high quality information.
The European Union, its member States, Thailand, Brazil, Uruguay and NEAFC are currently implementing FLUX.
Other RFMOs and countries are also currently testing the system.
