In Kyrgyzstan, a country dominated by mountainous landscapes, issues related to soil fertility conservation are of particular relevance. In the context of a changing climate, the country faces challenges such as soil erosion, degradation, salinization, and loss of fertility. These factors directly affect crop yields and the resilience of agrifood systems.

A workshop was organized by the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Ankara from 10 to 11 February 2026, with the participation of TAGEM’s GLOSOLAN member laboratories. The event, hosted by the Soil, Fertilizer and Water Resources Central Research Institute, which serves as the Ministry’s GLOSOLAN National Reference Laboratory (NRL). The workshop aimed to enhance technical cooperation and knowledge sharing among TAGEM member laboratories in alignment with both GLOSOLAN objectives and national requirements.

GSP partners’ session at the 14th GSP Plenary Assembly

On 17 December, Costa Rica marked a milestone in strengthening sustainable agriculture with the official awarding of certificates to the first 11 trainers and 17 producers of the Global Soil Doctors Programme (GSDP). The ceremony was attended by the Costa Rican Association of Soil Science (ACCS), the Secretariat of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and representatives of FAO Costa Rica.

In November 2025, the 27 experts of the fifth Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) met for the first time at FAO headquarters in Rome during the panel’s 23rd session. Nominated by the 13th Plenary Assembly of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP), the panel reviewed ongoing activities, set priorities and strengthened its scientific contribution to the GSP. This work continued a few months later at the 24th ITPS session, held online in March 2026, where members assessed progress and further refined priorities for the 2026–2027 period.
