A l'heure actuelle, aucune loi n'autorise la culture, la manipulation, la commercialisation ou l'importation des aliments génétiquement modifiés au Tchad. Étant donné que la recherche et la culture des OGM ne sont pas encore autorisés et compte tenu du flux des OGM dans le commerce international, l'importation reste la seule porte d'entrée des OGM au Tchad. A ce titre, l'inexistence de mécanisme d'analyse appropriée de laboratoire pour détecter ou déterminer les menaces liées à l'importation des OGM semble être un handicap. A cela s'ajoute la non qualification du personnel devant travailler dans un domaine aussi sensible que celui-la.
