Kazakhstan is gradually evolving in GMO topic. Nowadays we detect GMO by qualitative and quantitative PCR method in ISO 17025 accredited laboratories. Kazakhstan doesn't import or export GMO foods and products detected more than 0.9% GMO are banned.

In 2024, 536 samples of food products were examined on GMOs in the laboratories of the RSE on RME "National Center of Expertise" of the Committee foe Sanitary and Epidemiologycal Control of MoH RK, 3461 studies were conducted. The presence of GMOs exceeding 0.9% was determined using a quantitative method in 2 samples. The presence of GMOs was detected using a qualitative method in 10 samples, but when examined using a quantitative method, it does not exceed 0.9%.
