Country introduction:
Rwanda is only at initial stages of utilizing GM technologies. The country is currently reviewing its draft biosafety law and policy. Until the legislation is in place, the country is not handling anything to do with GMOs, including food imports and aid. Basically, the country has a "zero tolerance to GMO" policy for now.
Regulatory framework:
My country is in the process in developing a regulatory framework that requires the competent authority to conduct safety assessment of GM food.
