Lusaka, Zambia – Forest carbon initiatives are expanding rapidly in Zambia, bringing new opportunities to finance forest conservation, support rural livelihoods, and contribute to the country’s climate goals. But as interest in carbon markets grows, so too does the need to understand what these initiatives mean for the communities living in and managing Zambia’s forests.

Accra, Ghana — On Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, a high-level stakeholder workshop was convened at the Miklin Hotel, East Legon, to review and validate the final draft of the policy coherence analytical framework under the Forest Policy Coherence and Public Expenditure Analysis (FoRCE) initiative.

As it is known, forest carbon market governance in Latin America is undergoing rapid consolidation, driven by climate urgency and the region’s strategic forest ecosystems.

As governments face growing economic, social, and environmental demands, finance ministries are increasingly in need of more robust information tools to design public policies aligned with two fundamental financial principles of state management: efficiency and effectiveness in the use of public resources.

The Addis Action Roadmap for Sustainable Forests and Agriculture (From vision to action: Roadmap for sustainable forests and agriculture in Africa) was adopted earlier this year by representatives of 10 African countries, with its official publication launched last month.
