Ha Noi, Viet Nam, 23 June 2026 – Governments, industry representatives, smallholder organizations, development partners and technical experts from across Asia and the Pacific are gathering this week in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, to strengthen regional collaboration on traceable agricultural value chains that are decoupled from deforestation.

Accra, Ghana — On Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, a high-level stakeholder workshop was convened at the Miklin Hotel, East Legon, to review and validate the final draft of the policy coherence analytical framework under the Forest Policy Coherence and Public Expenditure Analysis (FoRCE) initiative.

As it is known, forest carbon market governance in Latin America is undergoing rapid consolidation, driven by climate urgency and the region’s strategic forest ecosystems.

As governments face growing economic, social, and environmental demands, finance ministries are increasingly in need of more robust information tools to design public policies aligned with two fundamental financial principles of state management: efficiency and effectiveness in the use of public resources.

The Addis Action Roadmap for Sustainable Forests and Agriculture (From vision to action: Roadmap for sustainable forests and agriculture in Africa) was adopted earlier this year by representatives of 10 African countries, with its official publication launched last month.

Social forestry (SF) has been expanding in Southeast Asia for over 40 years. Between 2010 and 2024, the area under SF grew from 6.7 to over 15.3 million hectares. This growth has coincided with stronger legal frameworks that secure rights and deliver greater benefits to local tenure holders.

Across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), forests are increasingly recognised not only as vital ecosystems and a source of well-being for local communities but also as a key part of the region’s response to climate change, biodiversity loss, and rural poverty.

On March 27, 2026, the regional workshop “From Farm to Consumer: Articulation for Resilient, Sustainable and Forest-Friendly Agri-food Value Chains” was held, focusing on the cocoa value chain in Latin America and the Caribbean, as part of the webinar series organized by the UN-REDD Programme.

The Government of Papua New Guinea through the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) in partnership with The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), an accredited entity of the Green Climate Fund has launched a national inception workshop to initiate implementation of the Papua New Guinea Green Climate Fund (GCF) Results-Based Payment (RBP) Pilot Programme.

On March 13, 2026, the webinar series “From Farm to Consumer: Articulation for Resilient, Sustainable and Forest-Friendly Agrifood Value Chains” was launched, organized by the UN-REDD Programme, a joint initiative of FAO, UNDP and UNEP. The inaugural session focused on the coffee sector, one of the main drivers of rural development in Latin America and a crop closely linked to the region’s forest landscapes.
