The El Niño phenomenon is not expected to hit Peru and Ecuador next summer, "given the stable oceanic and atmospheric conditions" as reported by the Peruvian Ministry of Defense's Center for National Emergency Operations (COEN according to its acronym in Spanish).

The organization indicated that the National Study of the El Niño Phenomenon (ENFEN according to its acronym in Spanish) has predicted the absence of this phenomenon, which causes heavy rains, flooding and landslides due to rising sea temperatures.
