Voices from the field, Gambia

The testimonies of farmers from Gambia on the devastating impacts of climate change on their farming activities, affecting their livelihood and causing food insecurity in the area.

During a participatory assessment on the climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptive capacity of rural communities that FAO conducted in the framework of this project, seven farmers from Gambia were interviewed. They all acknowledge that climate change has a devastating impact on their farming activities and crops: late start of the rains, droughts, erratic rain falls and heavy rains in short periods result in crop failure and low productivity, affecting their livelihood and causing food insecurity in the country.
