Adapting irrigation to climate change (AICCA)

Regional activities

There is a lack of information on the climate change impact on water management structures in the West and Central Africa region. The design and development of new irrigation infrastructures as well as the adaptation of the existing facilities require new guidelines that incorporate climate change adaptation.

The first phase of the project focuses on a regional analysis that describes climate change implications on irrigated agriculture and the irrigation technologies and best practices adapted to climate shocks that are valuable to be scaled up.

This analysis is carried out in eight African countries, representative from the West and Central Africa region: Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Mali, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger and Sierra Leone.

The conclusions of this analysis will be published shortly in a report that will be available online.
