Building capacity related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP MEAs 3)

Global

Over the past decades, a large number of Multilateral Environmental Agreements have been developed in response to global challenges associated with the loss of biodiversity and the production and use of chemicals. The ACP MEAs 3 closely collaborates with the Secretariats of these MEAs, to strengthen synergies and increased collaboration between them, and move towards a more solid form of global governance for biodiversity and ecosystem services and the sound management of chemicals and waste in agriculture.

ACP MEAs 3 actions

The programme focuses on the following key areas:

  • Inform and influence global discussions to develop a shared vision on mainstreaming biodiversity in agriculture;
  • Assist ACP countries and regions to prepare for MEA Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings, including COP15 and 16 to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD);
  • Support the development of Regional and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans to facilitate the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF);
  • Strengthen regulations to protect pollinators from pesticides.
