FLEGT & REDD+ Working Together



The FAO FLEGT and UN REDD Programme join forces to strengthen forest governance and limit the effects of climate change. On the occasion of COFO, held in July 2016 in Rome, the two programs presented case studies from Honduras, Vietnam and Côte d'Ivoire of how forestry can be successfully integrated into national plans of action against climate change for a more coordinated approach. The collaboration of stakeholders involved in REDD+ and FLEGT can significantly and sustainably strengthen the mitigation potential of the forest sector, and help effectively combat poor forest governance.
