WaPOR, remote sensing for water productivity

New WaPOR knowledge package in the GEO Knowledge Hub

23/04/2024

The GEO Knowledge Hub team, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), organized a webinar to present WaPOR, FAO's Portal to Monitor Water Productivity through Open Access of Remotely Sensed Derived Data.

The webinar was held by FAO colleagues Livia Peiser, Senior Land and Water Officer, Virginie Gillet, Land and Water Officer, Alyne Spencer, Information management specialist, and Marloes Mul, Associate Professor of Water Resources Management at IHE-Delft.

The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the WaPOR system, highlighting its role as a valuable tool for monitoring water productivity using remotely sensed data in agriculture. The webinar, held on April 23 from 14:00 to 16:00 CET, featured a live demo of the portal and attracted over 80 participants.

The GEO Knowledge hub is an open-source digital repository of open, authoritative and reproducible knowledge created by the Group on Earth Observations. WaPOR knowledge package can be found here.
