WaPOR, remote sensing for water productivity

Training workshop on crop mapping in Jendouba and Kairouan, Tunisia

26/04/2024

As part of the first component of the WaPOR 2 project, focused on "Development and provision of high-resolution data (20 m)," the project's National Technical Team conducted two data collection campaigns on crop types in the targeted project areas, namely Jendouba and Kairouan. The first campaign took place in July 2023, covering the summer season, while the second was conducted between January and February 2024, for the winter season.

Following these campaigns, a training workshop on crop mapping in Jendouba and Kairouan was held from April 24 to 25, 2024, at the FAO office in Tunisia. The main objective of this workshop was to familiarize the team with crop mapping techniques and to produce two maps for each project area. These maps will then be integrated into the WaPOR platform, contributing to the improvement of the water productivity calculation model
