Italy gives 680k euro to El Salvador in support of capacity development for agricultural innovation


In April 2018, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador Orestes Ortez Andrade, the ambassador of Italy to El Salvador Umberto Malnati and the FAO representative Alan González signed an agreement in support of the initiative “Capacity development for Agricultural Innovation System” (CDAIS) in El Salvador, under the framework of the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP).

This project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development with about 680k euro, aims at improving the Salvadoran Agricultural Innovation System enhancing its efficiency, sustainability and coherence with the needs of small agricultural producers.

The inauguration of the project, including a press event and an inception workshop, took place in September 2018. On this occasion, representatives from FAO, theItalian Agency for Development and the Government of Salvador presented the project, informing that it will address the capacity development of 800 smallholders and that four thousand families are expected to benefit from the initiative.
