About TAP
TAP-AIS is a project funded by the European Union and implemented by FAO. The project supports the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) to strengthen capacities to innovate in national agricultural innovation systems (AIS) in the context of climate-relevant, productive, and sustainable transformation of agriculture and food systems in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Pacific. To discover more, please visit the project webpage.
A key component of the TAP Action Plan is the Common Framework designed to promote better coherence and greater impact of Capacity Development (CD) in support of Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) in the tropics.
Concepts and principles of the TAP Common Framework have been tested in several countries in the context of different projects.
The testing of the Framework occurred as part of the Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS) project, implemented by FAO and Agrinatura and financed by the European Union (2015-2019). The CDAIS approach brought together key stakeholders in agricultural innovation system to promote innovation policies, approaches and partnerships.
Following the CDAIS project, a number of other countries and donors up-scaled the successful CDAIS approach through their projects and programs.
FAO El Salvador has implemented a CDAIS-like project (2018-2021), funded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS).
Since August 2019 the EU supports the new TAP Action Plan through the project "Developing capacities in agricultural innovation systems: scaling up the TAP Framework" (in short, TAP AIS), implemented by FAO, with a budget of EUR 5 million over 5 years (2019-2024).

Developed within the context of Tropical Agriculture Platform, TAPipedia is an information sharing system designed to enhance knowledge exchange in support of Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems.
