On International Mountain Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Tourism in India is bringing together stakeholders to highlight the importance of protecting mountains and the communities that depend on them directly and indirectly. They are hosting a day-long event with seminars, documentaries on sustainable mountain tourism, and a mountain clean-up, as well as encouraging children to take part in this initiative via social media.

On 1 December, Utah Valley University hosted its twelfth annual International Mountain Day observance. The Utah International Mountain Forum, a coalition of student clubs at Utah Valley University, hosted the event virtually through a student engaged learning model that allows students to address real-world problems as a group with a faculty member serving as a mentor. 

On 11-12 December, the community of Ostana in Northern Italy organized activities within the framework of the Apline Convention's annual Reading Mountains Festival for International Mountain Day 2021.

FAO's high-level International Mountain Day event on 10 December 2021 was opened by the FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili. The event highlighted the need to promote dialogue and cooperation to tap mountain tourism’s full potential to contribute to sustainable development.

As part of International Mountain Day, Sümeyra Ayık and Çelebi Kalkan hosted a workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals for children at Abdullah Gül University in Turkey on 11 December.

International Mountain Day was celebrated in the Philippines on 11 December with a nature trip to Lake Duminagat, located in the ranges of Mount Malindang, an ASEAN Heritage Park.

Members of the National Mountain Committee of Argentina discussed the activities that are being done to achieve a more sustainable development of the country's mountain areas on the occasion of International Mountain Day.

The United Mountains of Europe, a grassroots project, celebrated International Mountain Day on 11 December in Brussels in collaboration with the Belgian Alpine Club.

On 11 December 2021, writer, activisit and researcher Raja Muzaffar Bhat published an editorial in Greater Kashmir about Ghulam Rasool Galwan, a Ladakhi explorer of Kashmir descent, to celebrate the mountaineer's feats and accomplishments. 

The Climate Space project was born from an idea by Ludovico Einaudi, developed with Francesco Cara and Ponderosa Music & Art. Climate Space is an immersive space in which to explore new relationships with nature that have been transformed by climate change through image, music and storytelling as well as science and innovation.
