More than 560 000 people are expected to benefit directly from improved irrigation across approximately 32 000 hectares, while more than one million people are anticipated to gain indirect protection from flooding.

Approved this week by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board, with programme design prepared by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in collaboration with the FAO Investment Centre and the governments of Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, DaIMA aims to reduce emissions and make dairy systems more productive and resilient, directly benefiting 2.5 million people.

وتنتشر عبر هذه الولاية قرى نائية يعمل فيها مزارعو الكفاف بموارد محدودة وأدوات تقليدية في حيازات أراضٍ مجزأة. ويشقّ القرويون طريقهم عبر ممرات ضيقة بين الحقول حاملين على رؤوسهم سلالًا مملوءة بالخضروات أو حزم الحطب، في كفاحهم لكسب رزقهم من نتاج الأرض.

يقدم أحدث تقرير سنوي لمركز الاستثمار التابع لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة، الذي صدر اليوم، لمحة عامة عن هذا العمل مع شركاء المركز في عام 2024. 

على مدى أكثر من عقد، دعمت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة المزارعين الأسريين في ولاية ريو غراندي دو نورتي البرازيلية لتحسين إنتاجيتهم الزراعية، وتطوير أعمالهم كي يتمكنوا من الوصول إلى أسواق جديدة والمنافسة فيها. ويشمل ذلك تشجيع الاستثمارات لضمان الامتثال للوائح سلامة الأغذية، وإيجاد حلول لتلبية احتياجات البرامج المؤسسية للمشتريات الغذائية، مثل المدارس والمستشفيات، والفرص المتاحة لدخول الأسواق الخاصة الرسمية. 

جنوب السودان من أكثر دول العالم هشاشةً، حيث واجه حروبًا وصراعاتٍ متكررة، حتى قبل استقلاله عام ٢٠١١، ويتفاقم الوضع بسبب شدة تعرضه لمخاطر تغير المناخ، والارتفاع الملحوظ لمعدلات الفقر، ومعاناة ما يقرب من نصف سكانه من انعدامٍ حادٍّ في الأمن الغذائي. وافق بنك التنمية الأفريقي مؤخرًا على المرحلة الأولى من مشروع تحويل النظم الغذائية الزراعية المقاومة للمناخ، وهو عبارة عن منحة بقيمة 46.2 مليون دولار أمريكي تهدف إلى معالجة الأوضاع الهشة المستمرة في جنوب السودان من خلال تعزيز الإنتاجية الزراعية، وبناء القدرة على التكيف مع تغير المناخ وتعزيز دخول الأسر المعيشية.

وبفضل الدعم الفني والتوجيه الذي قدمته منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة، تمكنت 14 دولة من الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية في المحيط الهادئ، والمنظمات الإقليمية الرئيسية، من تحديد الاستثمارات ذات الأولوية التي من شأنها أن تساعد المنطقة في تحقيق رؤيتها المشتركة لمستقبل أكثر ازدهارًا يوفر المزيد من الأمن الغذائي.  

بتمويلٍ بقيمة تقترب من 91 مليون دولار أمريكي من قرضٍ من الصندوق الدولي للتنمية الزراعية، وقرضٍ ومنحةٍ من الصندوق الأخضر للمناخ، تأمل المكسيك تعزيز قدرة المجتمعات المحلية الضعيفة في حوض بالساس على الصمود في مواجهة تغير المناخ، وذلك من خلال توفير حوافز مالية لحماية المناظر الطبيعية والنظم البيئية في الحوض واستعادتها وإدارتها على نحوٍ مستدام. ومن المتوقع أن يُسهم المشروع في تحسين خدمات الإرشاد الزراعي وإمكانية الوصول إلى المعلومات المناخية، بما في ذلك نظم الإنذار المبكر ونظم التنبيه بالحرائق. ويحظى المشروع، المُصمّم بدعمٍ فنيٍّ من منظمة الأغذية والزراعة، بتأييد كبير من الحكومة، مما يُثبت أهمية المشاركة الوطنية بعيدة المدى في بناء الثقة مع الشركاء. 

نشر المركز تقريرًا بعنوان "المدخلات الحيوية: فرص الاستثمار في أمريكا اللاتينية". يتناول هذا التقرير، الذي يُعد جزءًا من سلسلة الابتكار والمعرفة من أجل الاستثمار التابعة لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة، الجدوى الاقتصادية وإمكانات الاستثمار والمزايا الاجتماعية والبيئية للمدخلات الحيوية الزراعية في المنطقة. وغالبًا ما تُستخدم هذه المدخلات الحيوية الزراعية - وهي منتجات من النباتات أو الحيوانات أو الميكروبات - كمكملات أو بدائل طبيعية للكيماويات الزراعية الاصطناعية، حيث تُحسّن صحة التربة وبنيتها وتركيبها، وتُعزز استدامة النظام الإيكولوجي، وتُقلل من الآثار الضارة على صحة الإنسان والبيئة.
