Agriculture and Food Security Action Event at COP22 features the launch of FAOs Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture

On Wednesday 16 November, FAO and the Kingdom of Morocco organized an Agriculture and Food Security Action Event which marked the unveiling of three new initiatives to showcase the enormous potential of the agriculture sector for climate actions, including "Coping with water scarcity in agriculture: a global framework for action in a changing climate".

The Global Framework for Action seeks to catalyse international cooperation on water scarcity in agriculture in the context of climate change and growing competition for water resources. It is a call for partners from different fields and backgrounds to join in a concerted effort to support countries in implementing their intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) related to agriculture and water; and in achieving the food security and water-related targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Global Framework for Action launched during the Agriculture Action Day 16 November 2016. In addition to this FAO AGL hosted a side event and a partners event related to the framework, and also launched a new report on Water Harvesting.
