Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing
This workshop is based on the 2009 FAO Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing, and complementary international instruments and it aims at strengthen governance of the Fisheries Resources of Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti and Eritrea during and after the COVID-19 crisis.
The output of the workshop will be a national strategy and action plan to review and align, as appropriate, national policies, legislation and monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) systems and operations to the provisions set forth in the Port States Measures Agreement (PSMA) and complementary international instruments and regional mechanisms.
The event is jointly organized by the Legal Services for Development (LEGN) and the Fisheries Global and Regional Processes Team (NFIFP) with the support of FAO Kenya and FAO Subregional Office for Eastern Africa.
