Botswana to Host a National Training on Integrating the Right to Food into its National Policy Framework

On 24 June 2025, key stakeholders from across Botswana will gather in Gaborone for a pivotal training session focused on integrating the right to food and legal aspects into the country’s draft Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) policy that is expected to be validated by stakeholders on 23-26 June 2025.
With the financial support of the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity through a dedicated project on legislating for the right to food, the initiative aims to strengthen Botswana’s food security governance by aligning the policy with its international human rights commitments and regional strategies.
The right to food is a fundamental human right recognized under international law. As Botswana develops its FSN policy, it is an opportune time to integrate the right to food and other legal aspects essential to tackle root causes of food and nutrition insecurity.
