The Second National Conference on the Right to Adequate Food in Uganda
The Second National Conference on the Right to Adequate Food in Uganda will be held in Kampala, Uganda, from 18 to 19 April 2023. The Conference is organized by the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) and the Makerere University of Kampala, Uganda with the support of the Kyambogo University of Kampala, Uganda, the University of Oslo, Norway, the World Food Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Conference will bring together participants from national and local governments and non-government institutions, communities, and academia to take stock of the progress, challenges and opportunities for the progressive realization of the right to adequate food, 20 years after the first national conference on this right. It aims to amplify the human rights dimensions affecting food systems transformation in Uganda and share available lessons and evidence on the right to adequate food in Ugandan communities affected by disaster and other forms of deprivation.
