ActionAid is a non-governmental organization that fights poverty. It has been in Mozambique since 1988. It works in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Zambézia, Inhambane, Gaza and Maputo in three strategic priorities: (i) women's rights and gender equity; (ii) participatory democracy and access to rights and basic services; and (iii) economic alternatives for women, youth and vulnerable groups.
African Development Bank (AfDB)
The overarching objective of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group is to spur sustainable economic development and social progress in its regional member countries (RMCs), thus contributing to poverty reduction. The AfDB started working in Mozambique in 1977.
Agricultural Development Fund (FDA)
Mozambique's Agricultural Development Fund (FDA) is a financial institution under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MASA) that aims to respond to agricultural development issues through the promotion of access to financial services to farmers and agrarian companies; the strengthening of markets for agricultural products; the promotion of partnerships between governmental institutions and other agrarian stakeholders, amongst others.
Agricultural Research Institute of Mozambique (IIAM)
The Agricultural Research Institute of Mozambique (IIAM) is a public entity that carries out research, development and dissemination of agricultural technology. It operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI)
BCI, "a bank of Mozambican culture", sees as its mission "to actively contribute to the economic and social development of Mozambique".
CARE International is a humanitarian organization fighting global poverty that places special focus on working alongside poor women because, "equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty". The organization began operations in Mozambique in 1984 with emergency assistance and food distribution for people affected by the civil war.
CARITAS Mozambique is a member of the Caritas International Confederation. Its agents work with the most disadvantaged, often in partnership with other institutions, aiming at their physical, material and spiritual well-being through assistance to populations in disasters, integrated rural development and support to community initiatives in areas such as education, health, agriculture and others.
Center for Studies of Agro-food Policies and Programs (CEPPAG)
The Center for Studies of Agro-food Policies and Programs (CEPPAG) of Eduardo Mondlane University has as main challenges the implementation of macro-economic policies aiming at enhancing production and productivity of crops such as maize, wheat, sugar and rice in Mozambique.
Centro Terra Viva (CTV) is a Mozambican non-governmental organization working on environmental protection and sustainable development promotion that supports "natural resources management that is socially fair, environmentally sound, economically viable and institutionally responsible, based on scientific knowledge ensuring sustainability and fair and equitable sharing of benefits".
Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA)
The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) was created in 1966 to meet the challenges of the introduction of the market economy system in the country. CTA is a non-governmental organization, nonpartisan, whose mission is to contribute to the economic and social development of Mozambique, based on the growth of the private sector.
Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM)
Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) is the oldest university in Mozambique. It was founded in 1962.
European Union (EU) in Mozambique
The EU (European Commission and Member States), in close coordination with the other co-operation partners, is seeking to ensure that assistance to Mozambique "promotes sustainable development and generates long-term benefits". The strategy for EU-Mozambique co-operation aims to help the country achieve its action plan (Poverty Reduction Strategy) to decrease the incidence of poverty and promote fast, sustainable and broad-based growth.
GAPI is a financial institution for development that promotes the national private sector, with particular focus on micro, small and medium-sized companies.

HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is a development organization anchored in Switzerland that works for "a just world in which all men and women determine the course of their lives in dignity and security, using environmental resources in a sustainable manner". In Mozambique, HELVETAS is predominantly active in the northern provinces with projects on drinking water, agriculture and education.
Information System of Agricultural Markets (SIMA)
The Information System of Agricultural Markets (SIMA) was established in 1991 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADER). SIMA is responsible for collecting and disseminating information on agricultural markets, including data on prices, specific market opportunities and perspectives.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) aims to contribute to the promotion of international cooperation as well as the sound development of Japanese and global economy by supporting the socioeconomic development, recovery or economic stability of developing regions.
KULIMA is a Mozambican non-governmental organization that works for the benefit of the most disadvantaged rural and periurban communities to raise their level of socioeconomic development. Other objectives are: to promote agricultural productivity and trade, as well as rural microfinance programmes, the sustainable use of water, health and education for all.

Livaningo is a non-governmental organization focused on the sustainable environment management, natural resources and the social wellbeing of communities.
National Institute of Normalization and Quality (INNOQ)
The main functions of the National Institute of Normalization and Quality (INNOQ) are: (i) the promotion of standardization and quality in the manufacturing of products and the performance of services; and (ii) cooperation with regional and international organizations working in the fields of standardization and quality. The aim is to improve the conditions of industry, protect consumers and the environment, increase and facilitate domestic and international trade in order to improve the standard of living and strengthen the overall economy of the country.
National Union of Farmers (UNAC)
The National Union of Farmers (UNAC), funded in 1987, is a movement of farmers from the family sector that has the objective of "representing the farmers and their organizations to ensure their social, economic and cultural rights by empowering farmer organizations and participating in shaping public policies and development strategies in order to guarantee food sovereignty, while considering youth and gender equality".
The Rural Observatory (OMR) is a Mozambican non-governmental organization that aims to contribute to the sustainable development of rural regions, the increased well-being of citizens and the participation of local economic agents and populations, in a democratic, participatory process with growing empowerment of institutions and communities.
Rural Organization for Mutual Aid (ORAM)
The Rural Organization for Mutual Aid (ORAM) brings together farmers and "people committed to the peasant question", whose purpose is "to defend the rights and interests of farmers, contributing to associative and community development, in order to ensure ownership and sustainable land use and natural resources in rural communities".
United Nations (UN) in Mozambique
The United Nations works, at the request of the Government of Mozambique, to support national development efforts, respond to emergencies and ensure peace and security for all Mozambicans. The support of the UN system to the government is given through a formalized UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), a plan that outlines the activities and modalities by which the UN assists in the achievement of development goals prioritized by the Government.
Women, Gender and Development (MuGeDe)
MuGeDe is a Mozambican non-profit organization, created in 2004 with the objective of sensitizing civil society about justice, tolerance and gender equity.
Since 1984, the World Bank Group has been providing development assistance to Mozambique in accordance with the country's needs and priorities, from economic stabilization in the 1980's to the Country Partnership Strategy for 2012-2015.
World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an independent organization of nature conservation. The programme of WWF in Mozambique supports various initiatives within maritime conservation, forestry, water, environmental education and journalism, community participation and threatened species.
