SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 6.000.000 - 4.000.000
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: Suspicious of PPR since 1960 but not confirmed with serology. In 2010: confirmed outbreak in the former province of Ecuador. From 2010 to 2017: PPR alert in all provinces.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Vaccination campaign is running from 2012. In the first year number of small ruminant vaccinated was 605.715 ( in Kwilu province); in 2013 have been vaccinated 642.330 small ruminant ( in Kwilu and Kasai provinces); in 2014 vaccinated 700.000 small ruminants (in Congo central, Kasai central and Maniema provinces). National Strategic Plan has been drafted and validated to meet 2030 PPR Eradication Plan with an Action Plan for the first 5 years (2017-2022) aiming to bring the Country at Stage 2.
