EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: PPR reported for the first time in 1985. Higher prevalence in the southern part of the country.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Vaccination campaign supported by the World Bank-funded project, Regional Sahel Pastoralism Support Project (PRAPS) in the southern regions of the country where livestock markets take place frequently and during periods at risk such as cold season, transhumant periods or religious holidays.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Livestock farming types: pastoral (nomadic or transhumance) and sedentary (rural sedentary and urban sedentary). Also exports of live animals to Mali, Senegal and Gambia.
