Do you have an innovative agrifood solution? 

This programme is for businesses, startups, and local innovators from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) who are looking to improve and scale up their innovative agrifood solutions in the agrifood industry that helps either of the following key areas:  

  • Better production: ensures sustainable consumption and production patterns
  • Better nutrition: end hunger, achieve food security, and improve nutrition
  • Better environment: protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial and marine ecosystems
  • Better life: promote inclusive economic growth by reducing inequalities

Ready to grow?

Be one of the top 16 local innovators, startups and businesses in the Pacific Islands! Your project must be based in one of the following SIDS:

The Cook Islands, Fiji, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

The chosen best 16 local innovators will get the chance to improve their innovative agrifood businesses and startups in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through Agrifood accelerator 2022.

Financial seed package

You receive a financial seed package to help maximise your impact!

Improve impact solutions

You get to work with experts worldwide to learn new key skills and approaches to scale up your startup or business’ impact solution.

In-person workshop

You get the chance to fly to Apia, Samoa for the in-person workshop where you have the opportunity to learn new skills and methods for taking your startup or business to the next level.

Mentoring & coaching

You will experience hands-on training with innovation experts to better your business or startup.

Network support

You get the chance to meet and interact with other innovators coming from different Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

You must be willing to commit to the following:

  • Join the 2-week long accelerator programme in November 2022
  • Attend the in-person supplementary workshop in Apia, Samoa*
  • Showcase your solution in the final pitch event in Apia, Samoa*

*The expenses incurred by participants for flights, board and lodging will be shouldered by the organisers. 

Who can apply?

The following is the selection criteria for startups and innovators who wish to join the accelerator programme:

The team is ready to enrol their company representative to participate in the accelerator programme.

Teams with female members are highly encouraged to apply.

The team’s project has been generating revenue for more than a year.

The team’s project has the potential to be replicated or scaled up.

The team’s project is based in the following small island developing states (SIDS): the Cook Islands, Fiji, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

The team has an innovative agrifood business or startup contributing to one of four key areas:

  • Better production: ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, through efficient and inclusive food and agriculture supply chains at local, regional, and global levels, ensuring resilient and sustainable agri-food systems in a changing climate and environment.
  • Better nutrition: end hunger, achieve food security, and improve nutrition in all its forms, including promoting nutritious food and increasing access to healthy diets.
  • Better environment: protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial and marine ecosystems and combat climate change (reduce, reuse, recycle, residual management) through more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems.
  • Better life: promote inclusive economic growth by reducing inequalities (urban/rural areas, rich/poor countries, men/women.
