| Activities | Livestock farming is an essential source of income, livelihood and food security in Afghanistan, where around 45 percent of the population depends on livestock production. However, extreme weather phenomena such as droughts and cold snaps are increasingly threatening this vital sector. This project evaluates the socio-economic impacts of FAO’s livestock protection package, distributed during the winter season to support livestock-dependent households, in Afghanistan. Using the RIMA 2023 dataset, the study examines the package’s effects on food security and household wellbeing. By analyzing outcomes for beneficiary households, the research provides key insights into the effectiveness of winter assistance programs in safeguarding livelihoods and ensuring food security during critical periods |
